Ellis Island processed 12 million immigrants between 1892 and 1954.
Roughly 40% of today's U.S. citizens can trace at least one of their ancestors to this very spot.
Passing through Ellis island was an incredibly short chapter that changed the course of millions of stories.
The Collector’s Experience:
Ellis Island + 23andMe
An extension of the Ellis Island app will allow people to photograph and “collect” all of the Immigrant Stories throughout the city. The app shares facts about Ellis Island immigrants and clues relating to the location of remaining stories. Collecting them all allows users to redeem a free 23andMe Ancestry + Traits kit.
